Before I plan a full batch of soap, I create a single test soap using a new oil or blend, so I know how it behaves in my cold-process soap recipe. I’m also testing scent retention and how badly the fragrance discolors the soap as it cures. After a two-month cure time, I can decide if this is a scent or blend that I want to move forward with – or not. Some fragrances don’t stick around or morph completely through the saponification process and I'd rather find this out without wasting expensive oils and butter! This means that I have more bars of soap than anyone needs or could use (even with several semi-regular donations to my MIL's church!).
There are two types of "fragrance test" bar soaps here:
1. Single oil from a supplier. I'll try to include the company so you can look up the notes. My blends are mostly created using oils from these suppliers because they are phthalate-free and high-quality. The abbreviations for these companies are:
BB - Bramble Berry
NS - Nurture Soap
SM - Scent Memory
MW - Midwest Fragrance
NG - Nature's Gate
LB - Little Bee Scents
2. One of MY blends. I'll (*) the blends that are my own.
Every bar I’m offering here is a lovely, perfect bar of soap. These bars have NO colorants, as I need to see what happens to the color of the soap during cure-time (can you see how each soap cures to a different color? Crazy!). They are all exactly the same in ingredients (scientific testing!) and size. Obviously, if one of these bars is what I would deem a “failure,” I won’t post it -- it's in the trash. Furthermore, if you really love a scent, please let me know! These bars will be simply packaged in a glassine bag with a handwritten ingredient label.

------> Allow this soap to dry completely between uses to preserve the longevity of the bar. A soap dish with drainage holes or a wooden rack-type dish is the best. If you keep handmade soap in a dish with no drainage, it will turn to mush pretty quickly.
